According to the annual housing market report released on January 31 by the New York State Association of REALTORS (NYSAR), 2016 sales of residential properties in New York State topped the previous year by 10 percent.
130,468 residential properties were sold last year, up from 118,602 in 2015. This is a new annual sales record for New York State, and the fourth year in a row to see growth in the housing market.
Statewide median sales price also rose 2.2 percent to $235,000 in 2016. CEO of NYSAR attributes this upward growth to, “Strong demand, low mortgage rates and a rising economy.”
